Fastback Friday: 1968 Ford Mustang is a turbocharged monster in the making

1968 Ford Mustang GT500 windsor

Fairly recently I was up in Los Angeles for the launch party of the new West Coast location of Gotham Dream Cars. While there I met a young chap named Jason Connor. Mr. Connor is what you might call a motoring enthusiast, like the rest of us here in the Hooniverse, and he started telling me about a project car that he’s working on. This isn’t what you might call a “tame build.”

Jason is putting together a 1968 Ford Mustang that looks like your standard Eleanor clone on the outside. Underneath, however, lives a large bit of forced induction ferocity that will surely make this one wicked fastback.

You might expect to find a massaged 302 sitting betwixt the fenders of this particular pony car. This is not the case with Connor’s ride. Instead, his engine bay plays host to a 351 Windsor that has been stroked out to 408. No that’s not the crazy part, because the 408 isn’t a rare engine for an old Ford. The difference with Jason’s car is that he added two 57mm T4 Garrett turbos.

Torque, say hello to boost. Wave good-bye to turbo lag but hello to OH MY GOD WHERE DID THE REAR END GO!

It’s quite clear that this is going to be one furious Ford, and we can’t wait to see the finished product. Stay tuned for updates, and watch for Jason to make an appearance on the Hooniverse Podcast in the near future.

  1. That is very impressive! I'm anxious to hear and see it run. I love his garage floor. I think I'll paint Hooniverse on mine.

  2. I'll be watching the western skies from here when the boost control fubars and the mushroom cloud erupts over the horizon. Cape Canaveral needs this one ! Have mercy !

  3. This has been a fun car to build, an has been a passion of jason's & mine. I personally want to say thank you for letting me build this dream ride with you.
