Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker: Long name… lots of fun

You can’t afford the Hellcat. You want more than the 5.7-liter R/T has to offer. Say hello to the Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker… if you can remember all of that.
It’s a long name, but it’s a car with lots of fun to pack up all those letters. There’s 485 horsepower on tap, and it’s more than enough to meter out punishment to those rear tires that are just aching for it.
There’s a hole in the hood, and yes it’s supposed to be there. That’s where the shaker scoop pokes through in order to feed some more air into the engine. It’s bolted directly to that 6.4-liter V8, and when you dip into the throttle it starts to dance a bit.
This is a toy for adults.
Adults who enjoy acting like children…
[Disclaimer: Dodge tossed us the keys to this Challenger and we had the car for a week. A tank of gas was included. Not included: fuzzy dice, a black t-shirt and plain jeans, and an iPod with classic rock. We supplied that ourselves… minus the dice.]

    Nice video.
After owning regular R/T 5.7’s with first the 6-speed manual and then the 8-speed automatic, I don’t think there’s a wrong choice either way. I’ll admit to missing the banging around with the manual gearshift when out having fun, but with the sport mode and/or paddles the 8-speed keeps up just fine; meanwhile I like the 8-speed better for slogging through construction-hampered evening rush hour traffic when you just want to get home.

Jeff has run out of fuzzy dice and HSNC ’15 will be upon us in a few months. Noted.

Way to many variations of this car. And it looks ridiculous. Straight line Yankee muscle, no thanks

Thanks for the review, Jeff. I want this, over the ludicrous Hellcat. Pennies are being saved as I type.
It may be juvenile, but I like the visual feedback that the Shaker provides.

Great video! and a very nice car. I love the “392 hemi” letters on the shaker scoop…
Also, I like the challenger because I like cars that embrace what they are, are not ashamed, and don’t try to pretend otherwise

The Challenger is just a great looking retro car, much nicer than the Camaro and Stangs. It is a big comfortable car with lots of power that you don’t have to pry yourself out of after a three hour drive. Sold my 2011 Challenger to a friend last year….big mistake and have regretted it ever since. Scat Pack Shaker is on my Christmas list.
