Clarion Builds BMW 2002 heading to auction in Florida

Remember that oh-so excellent BMW 2002 I drove a few weeks back? It’s the product of the Clarion Builds program, and it’s heading to auction.
This 1974 BMW 2002 is the first car in this program, and it’s serving as one hell of an attention getter for Clarion. The car was restored wonderfully and it’s a true joy to drive the old girl. Now someone else is going to get that same experience, and will be able to keep the car in his or her own garage.
Clarion is bringing the 2002 to the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida. All proceeds from the sale of the car will be donated to the TGEN Foundation which supports cancer research.
Now, a properly sorted BMW 2002 isn’t exactly the most expensive machine you’ll see crossing a Barrett-Jackson auction block. Still, charity cars can fetch more than the average car. What do you think this particular machine will earn? Personally, I’m hoping to see at least $30,000 raised.

I had the chance to drive that amazing car and I think it will go for more than 30k. I am thinking possibly over 50. The market for these 02’s is getting crazy!

Yes, the current asking prices for 2002s are very silly. As an owner I wouldn’t pay more than 8k for a well maintained non-tii, and even less for a square taillight car.
Alas, this trend has not helped the values of decent driver quality cars like mine.
Frankly, values of most every older car that I like are going out of sight. Maybe it’s a sign that it’s time to get back on two wheels.

It’s sad cause I became interested in these cars too late. I started following the coupe king build after I saw a nice red 2002 while living in Chicago. Now that I am looking for one to buy . . It seems so is everyone else.
