As tested, this particular Kia EV9 costs $74,000. That’s an electrified buoyed-up boatload of cash. And this one is still one below the top-spec GT-Line model. Plus, there’s talk of a bonkers high-performance EV9 GT still to come. That said, the EV9 delivers excellent range, great power, fun styling, a lovely interior, and tremendous charging speeds.
So, given the idea of high transaction prices for all vehicles, does this one start to make sense?
This is a Kia EV9 Land. Goofy trim name aside, it’s a dual-motor AWD EV with a 99.8-kWh battery back. The power on tap is rated at 379 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, and you’ve got at least 270 miles of driving range at your disposal. Being an 800-volt architecture car, the EV9 can handle charging speeds up to 230 kW, which is enough to return almost 150 miles of range in just 15 minutes.
On the inside, there’s a usable third row, a comfortable second row, and even a Meridian sound system for proper audio enjoyment. It’s surprisingly quick despite its nearly 5,800-pound curb weight, and I think curb appeal-wise, it’s a looker. I know the price point is a hard part to argue as that’s a colossal sum of money for most folks.
But I’m going to try anyway… click play and hear what I have to say.
