Mazda has some major updates in store for the 2019 MX-5 Miata. That punchy SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is now producing 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Inside the engine itself, Mazda has reduced the size of the pistons and connecting rods, while also reducing exhaust loss. Two of the biggest new items for the 2019 MX-5 though? The steering wheel has a telescope adjustment now, and the RF finally gets the sweet Recaro seats.
You could already get the Recaro seats on the 2019 MX-5, but not on the RF version. These are a welcome upgrade over the standard thrones of the targa Miata. Add in the bonus belly space afforded by the increased range of steering wheel adjustment, and you have an MX-5 built to fit a lot more folks.
Yes, the added horsepower is actually the best part of the 2019 refresh of the ND Miata. But having optional Recaro seats available on the RF is a nice bonus on top of the SKYACTIV-G cake.
*Disclaimer: do not eat SKYACTIV-G cake. It contains gasoline.
