Shall we play a game?

I stumbled upon Fantasyshowroom this morning and thought “how hard could it be to run a car dealership?”   Should be a piece of cake right?
So show us what you got.  Create an account, name your dealership and load up your lot with $2,000,000 of the finest cars you can find.  You can join any existing group or the Hooniverse group I set up.
Let the games begin!

      1. Total non-sequitur, but in your IntenseDebate profile, if you click "my account" and then "Edit Profile" and the "Profile" submenu on the left side, you can change how your screen name appears when it feeds through to Ole Hoonie.
Just, you know, in case you'd want to do that. I can't imagine why I'd think you would…

  1. I have a feeling this is gonna be a challenge for most of us – thinking like the auto buying public, instead of the hoons that we are.

    1. Fuggetaboutit, the Hoon gene runs deep. I'm thinking I need a used car lot filled with old American muscle, a couple of class B monsters and an MGA with the Stirling Moss snout.

  2. I had so much trouble figuring out what to put in the hybrid category. As much as I pushed, the A3 TDI didn't fit so I settled for a Civic hybrid.

  3. Any idea how to change dealership names? I wasn't sure about the difference between screen name and dealership name and I want to do better.

  4. I don't think we can share showrooms just yet. I read that after the 1st month, you can have your comrades check out your pix.
At MuthaLovin Motorsports, we treat every car buyer with respect and humility. Until you ask why there are no Camrys on the lot. Then we ask you to GTFU!
    Compact Coupe – Volvo C30
    Convertible – Mazda MX-5
Hybrid (I fucking loathe this category. A Tesla is not a hybrid) – Civic Hybrid
    Luxury – Porsche Panamera
    Sedan – Audi S4
    Sport – Nissan 370Z
    SUV – Audi Q7
Pickumup – F-150 (We are having a Raptor Blowout! Test drive one and get a free pair of Truck Nutz!)
Vans (people still buy vans?) – Ford Transit Connect
    Wagon – Cadillac CTS Wagon
    What do you guys think?

    1. I haven't seen the list yet, have to do this from home, not work, but… was Fusion an option for Hybrid? I'd pick that over Civic anyday.
mmmmm I want a Raptor, I'll have to go to MuthaLovin and test drive one, just for the free truck nutz for my current 95 F150.

      1. It is, and I did.
You know, now that I think about it, my dealership is currently stocking an awful lot of Ford and GM product for an avowed Japanese car nut, and it'd only be worse if the Fiesta was an option for the compact car category…

      2. I want to give Violet truck nuts. There's enough ground clearance that her sack wouldn't drag, and performance could only improve, but I imagine I could expect decreased reliability and fuel economy.
I'll be by to take the Raptor out for a spin. I've got a road in mind that my 240 can almost traverse.

  5. Well, UDecide Motorcars is now open for business. I don't stock anything exciting, but I hope to win, or at least help our group. I tried to go with some exciting choices, but their score was way too low. So instead of an Audi or a (Prick Filled) BMW, I chose a Cadillac DTS! For a Truck, you really can't beat the Avalanche. And how about the Honda Insight? The Kia Soul, and the Ford Transit Connect?
I'm taking it to the next (lower) level!

  6. Tytel-Wosht Automotive Group is now open under new management! The previous owners were really desperate to sell (Something about Aruban bank accounts and moving to Switzerland…or was it the other way 'round?), so I picked it up for practically peanuts!

  7. This sounds way too cool… when i'm done with work, I'll have to try to set something up… but I fear my biased choices will hinder my performance in the game.
Reminds me a bit of a video game called "Detroit" that I purchased for the PC a long, long time ago, where you controlled your budget and decided what features to put into cars, it wasn't a great game, and I tired of it quickly, but I loved the concept!

          1. I run old DOS games all the time on my Mac. In fact, my friend actually plays Detroit on his Macbook Pro. It runs pretty well and doesn't tax the processor too much considering that it's emulating a 16mhz 386 environment. Here's the link: http://www.dosbox.com/

    1. There is a Car Tycoon( or something similar) game that I bought a few years ago that is crazy in-depth. It gave you the ability to:
      – budget R&D; choose what to research (body styles, drivetrains, etc.)
      – set up dealerships, incentives, and promotions
      – manage service locations and warranty coverage
      – engage in sabotage and industrial espionage
      – manage your supplier base
In short, it's insanely details – I'm sure that I'm forgetting more of the gameplay here.

    1. Not to be confused with World Famous Racing Concern Scuderia Taintwhistle, which is a completely separate entity.
      Y'know, tax reasons and whatnot.

      1. SOMEone has to do it! While all those R8s and CTS-Vs rot on Hooniverse lots, I'll dutifully collect the points.
/I'm hoping the CTS Wagon turns out to be the sleeper hit of the century.

        1. Yeah, but we get to drive them home every night too!
oh wait, this is just a video game, still…. Can't wait to get home and set up my lot!
Besides, if my lot doesn't do well from a business perspective, I'll just count on good ol Uncle Same to help me out, right?

          1. That's what I'm hoping for, too. I'm making friends with my congressman right now so he'll close one of y'alls dealership before he closes mine.

          1. Fresh out of Park Avenues, I'm afraid. But I'll make you one heck of a deal on LeSabre. We've got them in tan, beige, taupe, light gold, and champagne beige. Just take your pick!

  8. Some people are resorting to various sorts of this, as conventional methods have become more difficult and displaying more unwanted effects. your post explores many of these different sorts of methods and just how the benefit us, thanks! thanks
