Continuing with our gloomy-due-to-the-lack-of-snow Weekend Edition, it’s time to post another beater after the Samara that started our Sunday run. And if you’re looking for affordable transport that requires zero attention regarding maintenance, appearance or objects near or far, you have to go for a hatchback mid-’80s Toyota Corolla.
I really, really have a soft spot for Corollas of this generation. Problem is, they also have a good amount of soft spots by now: I haven’t seen a showroom fresh looking rust free one for ages. Even the grandmamobiles have terrible wheelarches.
And it doesn’t help if your navigating mostly consists of banging into things, or getting banged upon. Surely the Corolla will continue to run, but it’ll just look even worse.
Ah, that’s much better.
