With enough downforce, one could theoretically drive on the ceiling if they were to go fast enough. That’s reportedly the case with the Lotus Type 91. The car gets examined at Goodwood and the crew there manages to churn out a short yet entertaining video that gives you a better look at the car.
Is this Lotus the One that Spiderman Would Drive?

That would be quite a stunt! All you need is to build an elevated track with a gradual twist to it:-)
-
Don’t lift! Well, I mean, I guess at that point the downforce is, in fact, lift, but still.
-
Also: all Australians are banned, to avoid the need for an upside-down pedestrian crossing…

It would be interesting if someone would start a racing series where everything is the same (engine, transmission, suspension, chassis, etc.) except for the body, and the race teams could design the body however they wanted as a sort of aerodynamic-based racing series.

I doubt J. Jonah Jameson would pay Peter Parker enough to afford a real Lotus, so I think he’d have the Lotus-tuned Isuzu Stylus. The Stylus definitely couldn’t drive upside down in a tunnel. -
I haven’t seen a new episode of MythBusters in over 10 days
someone please give them an unlimited budget to try this for realComment

Didn’t Mercedes try that with an SLS in a tunnel a few years back?
-
I’m 99.99% sure they faked it, and even if they didn’t the loop is so short it’s more of a demonstration of centripetal force than aerodynamics
-
Yes you are right, but it is still driving upside down!
