Hooniverse Fastback Friday – The Alfa Romeo GTV-6 Racecars of Alfaheaven.com

By Jim Brennan Feb 18, 2011

Welcome to another Hooniverse Fastback Friday Edition. The folks over at Alfahaven.com have been providing a plethora of beautiful machinery that we have been bringing to you, our fantastic Hooniverse readers. Since it is Fastback Friday, I thought this would be a good time to show the GTV-6 collection from these fine and wacky folks.

Let’s start with this 1984 GTV-6 race car, which is reportedly the world’s fastest V-6. The web site claims that this car has eleven track records, with five championships while competing in IMSA S2, and SCCA GT2 among others. The owner has stated that it is in excellent condition, with an engine rebuilt, and includes many spares. Funny, but this reads like an advertisement rather than a history. It was last raced 1990, and the car includes a log book.

Here is another 1984 GTV-6 race car, and it has competed in the same events as the previous car did. However, its racing career isn’t as impressive as the Red GTV-6 racer above. It has competed in the 12 Hours of Sebring, and a 24 hour stint at Watkins Glenn. The web site is a bit short on information for this car, but I have been in touch with the owner, and there will be more information forthcoming.

Like this car. It was built as an Ice Racer and competed in a series run by the International Ice Racer Association. This is a GTV-6, with an Alphetta nose, and it competed successfully for five years. The last year it was raced, it achieved a top speed of 147 on a frozen lake, and was 1st overall in the championship standings – against FWD and AWD cars no less. This particular GTV-6 was modified to have 12″ of suspension travel.

Want to know more about Alfa Heaven? I will be doing special postings about Tom Zat and his wonderful site, as well as other news about this Hoon from Wisconsin in the near future.

  1. It's sad to think I lived in Wisconsin for two years and never heard about this place until this week. Of course back then I was driving a Volvo 164, about as far from Alfa as you can get. Would rather have had the Zat SS just above this comment.
