Hooniverse Asks-What's the Most Frustratingly Useless Trunk?

T-Bird-Trunk You have stuff, am I right? Sometimes you need to bring that stuff with you when you go someplace, or perhaps want to bring some new stuff home as you’re an active supporter of unbridled capitalism. When you want to do any of these things, you usually call on your trusty steed – your car – to carry both you and your stuff. It turns out however that some car designers have seemingly never fully grasped the whole concept of stuff. The current styling trend in modern sedans is to taffy-pull them into fastback shapes. That elongates the rear window forcing the trunk opening to be little more than a mail slot. There may be a Grand Canyon’s worth of space in there, but good luck getting anything larger than a pencil case past the door. Other designs allow access but then foil your packing plans with an oddly shaped load area, or worse, an intruding spare tire, stereo bass box, or other frustrating space hog. Today being Monday, the grumpiest day of the week, I thought we’d channel that collective crabbiness and focus it on bad trunk design. I mean, why not? Which cars do you think have offered the most frustrating trunk designs? I’m expecting GM’s Kappa cars to feature prominently. Image: NevadaClassics
