Hooniverse Asks- What's Has Been the Best James Bond Movie Car?

Bond, James Bond, has over the years driven a multitude of cars, fancy cars. Not only that, but the 007 movies – from Dr. No to Skyfall – have additionally featured a slew of cars driven by those not lucky enough to be James Bond. The Bond Franchise is in fact, a veritable used car lot full of many of our favorites. But which one’s the coolest and hence the best?
There’ll be a little more about Mr. Bond and his archetype architect a little later this morning, but right now we’re focused, not on the spy himself, but by all the iron on display in his 24 film outings. Considering that they have included everything from the iconic Aston Martin to a flying AMC hornet and a submersible Lotus Esprit, which Bond car do you think should most appropriately be licensed to thrill?

    1. This was the first Bond movie that I saw. I was an impressionable youth at the time. The Lotus submarine will forever, to me, be the Bond car.

  1. I know it is a European Mustang. I don’t care. I love the V8 Vantage from The Living Daylights.

    1. ::whispers::
I think the V8 Vantage looks better than the older DBs.
SHH! Don’t tell anyone — I’ll be crucified!

    1. There was actually applause in the theater when I saw it, the DB5 got the biggest reaction out of anything in the movie.

    1. For the longest time the rumor was that Connery was short and was photographed to look tall and wore “lifts” in his shoes. Now, thanks to the Interwebs, I find that he’s my height (6’2″), so I wouldn’t fit in a 2000GT either. Not to worry, I couldn’t afford one any way.

      1. For us ” vintage only ” cave dwellers…. What is that ?
( too lazy to look it up )

  2. The Renault 11 that got its top chopped, then split in two and Bond is driving the front half. All really possible, right?

    1. Sure, it’s front engine & front wheel drive. And apparently front fuel tank too. Oh wait…

        1. Except with the car. you don’t need any chemo?
Secret confession:I quite like this view.
          But the front? No.

  3. One of the worst movies brought one of the greatest cars. Octopussy and the alfa GTV6. It wasn’t actually Bond’s car, but was stolen by him.

  4. I forgot Tuesday’s correct answer. R1200C.
    .
had one of these ( in black of course) – man do they get squirrely in hard corners, felt like the tires were down & you were diving on a sponge.

  5. DB5, of course. But I’m still upset that the Z8 was sacrificed so soon. Though it did survive longer than some Esprits.

  6. My least favorite Bond car was the Z3 in it’s desultory two minutes in ‘Golden Eye’. It was an obvious crass puff piece for a car with no redeeming qualities and lessened the film.

    1. The 7-series was even more obvious product placement. A hefty German family sedan does not become a Bond car simply because it can be controlled remotely.
