Fire, along with the wheel and Bar Refaeli, represents one of mankind’s greatest discoveries. The Firebird was one of Pontiac’s great cars, and last week’s quest was to discover some cool – or hot as it were – Firebirds for sale the world around. You know, for mankind. We’ll see which Bird is the word in a minute, but first, we have business to attend.
In one of the most famous scenes in The Godfather the mobster Clemenza directs his associate, Rocco to Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. This was after the pair had killed Paulie Gatto for selling out the Don and they were disposing of his body. What does that have to do with this week’s quest? Well, what I want this week are not cars that have been dumped like Paulie, but close, those that have been left for dead. Cars and trucks that are obvious basket cases, and ones that no one in their right mind would consider buying unless they are (A) crazy, or (B) crazy with a lot of money.

So the question is, considering its Camaro origins, how much Firebird could a firebird be? Of all the cars found for sale, this 1969 Coupe from Calgary located by oldcarjunkie is the answer none more Firebird. That’s because this ‘Bird is powered by that most Pontiac of motors the OHC straight six. These are as rare as hens teeth, and while it won’t provide the same visceral experience as a V8, it’s still perhaps one of the rarest and most interesting of Firebirds ever produced. Way to go, oldcarjunkie!
