A small selection of scale cars I found in a Walmart late one night

As you may have read, I just went coast-to-coast in an Audi e-tron. Along the way, I stopped at many a Walmart. During one of those stops, I decided to have a look at the toy section. Here are a handful of scale toy cars I found:

I love that Tony Stark’s Camaro is a 2016… even he doesn’t like the redesigned face apparently. Also, that Stranger Things Camaro is sweet. I should’ve snagged that one.

A BRE 510 and trailer? Yes, I should’ve grabbed this one too.

You could be King of the scale version of Radwood with this one.

I’m getting some odd first-gen Viper vibes with this one for some reason.

Those wheels are silly. The paint is dumb. But I’m pretty sure I’d drive this as is in real life.

Safari all the things apparently. (I’d probably drive this in real life too).

Very cool rig. I’m not paying eight bucks for it though.

Almost as cool as the BRE rig, but now I remember why I wasn’t buying any of these…

I did buy one though because it seemed appropriate and I needed a gift for my daughter. Because she’s an only child and apparently that means she gets something anytime I’m traveling.

I check the Hot Wheels selection every time I’m at the market, in case there’s a model I like. The “junk drawer” where I throw my keys is full of them. Skylines, 60s/70s Japanese mini-trucks, BMW CSL and 2002, Datsun 510, LR Defender 90, Ford Escort rally car… I don’t know what all is in there. I just grabbed a grey modified Ford Maverick on my last grocery run. They’re too cheap not to buy!

Funny timing, we were just at Wally-Mart yesterday – this is what my eldest decided he just couldn’t live without

Having young boys is awesome because it means I can justify buying Hot Wheels that I think are cool. My 4 year old has a large eclectic collection that I’m rather proud of.

Safeway has a good selection, I’m going to try and grab the VW SP-2 to go with the Brasilia I’ve had for years and the Land Rover pickup I just got. The most surprising find was a Matchbox Mazda CX-5 that was a very close match to my real CX-5

What’s nice is they carry Tomica.

I typically try and peruse the selection at the dollar store or grocery store when possible, but I think the Pacifica is the last one I bought, months ago. I might need the BRE Datsun and truck though, I just don’t know if I need it bad enough to go in a Wal-Mart.

I went in to one last night in Paso Robles, and people push their carts around exactly like they drive in California, in complete oblivion. I had a 60s woman (Lexus stereotype) pull out of an aisle and turn in front of me, then stop, and do a 180, so she was facing me directly, and didn’t make eye contact with me until I said something…she just kept looking past me, never even considered someone else might be sharing that space.

I expect to pass her on the right later today on the 101.

I may have a minor addiction to collecting little cars. My collection:

It’s a cheap hobby to start, but gets expensive as you disappear down the rabbit hole.

This is just a running gag by now, but here I am sitting in my home office and can give you a sneak onto my small car shelf…

What scale is that and who makes it?

1:43 Ixo / Altaya. This company has everything. This particular model was purchased on a trip to St. Petersburg – nice memory.

Era Car 1/64, quite easy to find on ebay, though the BM creations one is probably better.

You wouldn’t be getting that at $8, that price is for the fantasy rigs below it in the picture. You’d have to pony up $13 for it as seen in the JDM-L picture.

But yeah… I’ve spent the $13 a number of times now. And a bit more…
