Weekend Edition Quick Hit – A 1962 Plymouth Savoy Max Wedge on Craigslist…

Fullscreen capture 4262014 44607 PM.bmp Once again, I was on weekend duty with my current employment (mis)opportunity, and I’m only now getting to do some weekend posting for all of you to enjoy… Like this particularly delightful Plymouth with the legendary Max-Wedge, Twin Carb, Monster V-8 under the hood. Tell me you don’t think it’s anything special… Fullscreen capture 4262014 44603 PM.bmp This 1962 Plymouth Savoy represents the new downsized full-size cars from Chrysler for their volume divisions (Plymouth and Dodge) in which the executives in charge at that time misinterpreted classified information they received about GM downsizing their best selling full sized lineup. Speculation during this time period was Chrysler either stumbled upon the new Chevy II model (Which was named Chevy II very late in the design cycle), or the upcoming Chevelle mid-size, neither one replaced the full sized Chevrolets. So, Plymouth was stuck with the smaller car for 1962, and Dodge only had to wait until February of 1962 for a hastily revised full-sizer in the form of the Dodge 880. A real numbers matching Plymouth Savoy max wedge 413 inch/410 HP. engine with an original 3 speed on the floor transmission (one of nine) and 49,000 original miles. It has factory cutouts, 3.91 sure-grip rear end, radio/heater delete. These were the first of the muscle cars and could run the quarter mile in the 12 second range. The car was recently tuned up, freshened up with new paint and it is perfect. Better than money in the bank.

While you’re at it, try and describe the color… Fullscreen capture 4262014 44633 PM.bmp
