Continuing on with the Weekend Edition, and I thought I found something while looking through the eBay listings… The title read like this: 1973 AMX GO PACK Fresh Plum Pierre Cardin 360 4spd. I thought that someone actually put a freshly restored AMC AMX equipped with the Go Package, and the very desirable Pierre Cardin Interior Grouping (one of only 4,152 Javelins ever so equipped, and who knows how many of those were AMX models). Well, it’s not the car above (which belongs to a CarDomain Member, credits at the end of the post) so you will have to make jump to see the actual car offered…
This is it… a real Basket Case if you ask me. My rant after the listing:
You are bidding on a VERY RARE 1973 AMX GO PACK 360 4 Speed Pierre Cardin FRESH PLUM. As seen this is a documented car with a copy of the original window sticker. Car still original vin tag, door vin sticker, door trim tag and original valve cover tag. The only way to confirm a TRUE ORIGINAL GO PACKAGE CAR is to have original dealer paperwork or window sticker. Everything that is included with the car is seen in the pictures. This is the way I got the car and have no idea what happened to all the original parts. As seen in the pictures this car will need a complete restoration.
Rear frame rails are solid, trunk floor is solid, fuel neck has rust. Floor pans and inner rockers have rust. Car is solid around the windows. All the glass is included except the windshield. Original Door Trim tag shows TRIM 341W (Black Pierre Cardin) F3 FRESH PLUM! It comes with a pair of aftermarket lower quarter repair panels and a extra used left fender. Still has the original front disc brakes. Original Twin grip rear end is gone. CLEAR NEW YORK STATE TITLE! Again this car will need a COMPLETE RESTORATION,but is VERY RARE!
There is a great deal of this car missing, including the rare (and never to be found) Pierre Cardin Nameplates that were on the front fenders. If you were to try and restore this car, some of the missing items are as rare as unobtainum. You may get the seats, but what about the unique headliner, door trim panels, or even the unique instrument panel itself? According to the seller, the asking price of $4,995 gets you a shell of a car (and not a good one at that), a lump of an engine with missing parts, identification tags that stated this was once a Pierre Cardin AMX, and a hope and a prayer that you might get your money back after pouring your sweat and tears into this project. My take on this car? Don’t even bother…
And now for what a Real AMX Pierre Cardin is suppose to look like…
