Watch Mr. Le Mans go from 18th to 3rd in a Ford GT40

Tom Kristensen is known as Mr. Le Mans for good reason. The man has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans an amazing nine times. Of those wins, six were consecutive. Kristensen is the best driver to suit up and run Le Mans. So to say he knows what he’s doing behind the wheel of a race car is a dramatic understatement. Still, it’s awesome to see him put his skills to practice, especially since he’s now retired.

Kristensen was at the 78th Goodwood Member’s Meeting and drove a Ford GT40. In one of the races, he started back in 18th place and needed just five laps to move on up to 3rd. It’s awesome to watch (and listen to) as you’re getting the POV of a man focused on moving up through the pack. It’s downright beautiful to watch.

  1. Outstanding collection of competing cars at Goodwood, of course, but I couldn’t help but focus on the windscreen wiper that’s fighting oncoming air.
