As a Northern European car guy, there’s a ton of cars I wish we got but didn’t. And I know there’s a lot of cars that were – even technically – available here, that never made it to the States. The BMW E34 was available with engines ranging from a lowly 1.8-litre four to the wonderful 4.0 V8 or the 3.6 and 3.8-litre sixes in the M-versions, and along with the saloon version, you could get the BMW M5 as a seriously cool wagon version.
The Touring was never exported to North America, and a 1994 car such as this will have to wait a few more years before making it past the 25-year age limit in the States. But here it was, on a rainy mediocre Monday, sitting on cobblestones, not far from my apartment. It’s not always completely terrible to live here.
Was this S38B38 longroof M5 the perfect specimen? Nope. The wheels, seemingly Keskin, were a touch too big, a bit too wide, and the car sat a bit too low. I’m not a huge fan of stanced cars, and the cobblestones on the town centre’s streets aren’t too comfy to drive on even with cars of normal height. But hey, whatever floats your boat. The selective yellow on the front lighting is most likely Lamin-X film.
And judging by the colour combination, the M5 was a Nürburgring Edition, which means electric blue paint with silver accents and a grey part-leather interior. It’s of course a second-hand German import, as not too many M5:s were registered here new. Finns focused on the 518i and the 520i more often.

Absolutely right about the wheels.Stock with stock, factory lowered suspension, (and no lower), is best.

Maybe with the original ‘I’m just a 518, honest’ 17 inchers

The lower picture’s wheels are a tad too quirky to be cool – I’d take them.
I like yellow headlamps on cars with dark paint, btw.

Owner modifications aside, this is one of my four favorite BMWs.

I like it a lot.

These are OZ Futura wheels, no? Top line of OZ wheels since 25 y. ago. But yeah, with this size these could look right under 8-series but are too big for 5-series.

Keskin KT1’s are replicas of those. I can’t tell which ones are on that BMW though.
