Yep, it’s that time of year again where we get to live vicariously through the eyes of our Grand Imperial Poobah as he bashes his knuckles and spend most of his weekend swapping out broken car parts races ‘ol one-fo-three around the track in an attempt to take home all the cash nickels. Check back throughout the weekend for more updates. Good luck Tim!

Uberbird + nickels = Petty cash.

Deutschland über alles!

Just how embarrassed should I be that I only just watched Pixar's Cars on DVD last week for the first time, and noticed that one of the principal characters was obviously the inspiration for the Überbird, even down to the powder-blue paint scheme…?
"Hey, wow, that looks like the Überbird…"-
I'd say you're still in the clear. I just assumed my kids would eventually get to the age where they would subject me to it. Are you saying I should get it myself?

Mr_Biggles….you need to see this movie….the graphics alone make it a must see!

It's cute and visually fun to watch, looking for various auto-related memes embedded within, but it is, after all, a kid's film, so the storytelling and dialog are totally forgettable. Still, I requested it for my b-day last week, and Randy delivered, plus a bonus DVD of short features of Cars characters.

Will do. Thanks (and to you too Longrooffan). My older daughter is 6 and shows little interest in cars despite my best efforts. The younger one is 3 and can't get enough of the Hot Wheels garage so far. I'll sit them both down for it.
I have to say I thought the trailer for Cars 2 looked pretty keen after reading Blake's writeup on it, especially with all the AMC product. We'll make sure to watch them in order.-
Actually, Blake's write-up of the sequel's trailer served to motivate me to get ahold of Cars also.

Hooray! I influenced somebody!

Charles…You have heard of Richard Petty, yes?
-
I have heard of Mr. Petty, but have never been one to watch auto racing, so there's another pop-culture demerit.
Is #43 his? Or is it the powder-blue livery that's the tie-in?-
From the NASCAR Hall of Fame. "43" was always Petty's number.

"Hey man, it's the King!"

Actually, Cars was never the inspiration to be honest… it was all about Petty and the Superbird, who inspired the Cars character. However, lots of kids who attend the LeMons races LOVED the car because of Cars.. which is cool by us
I am going into withdrawls missing out on this race. Gone in 60 Laps Eleanor 1985 Mustang GT is now My Little Pony. It still has #60 but is now a similar uber-blue. Drive Fast and Take Chances!!

Wait, that was YOU?!? Shoot, I'd have brought you a dang beer. I mistakenly thought you were racing a unicorn, and I generally avoid eye contact with unicorns…
How did you do?-
I stayed at home but according to the rest of the guys things were up and down in typical lemons fashion. They got to do the Bob Ross penalty for spinning off (usually spinning off is what I do). I am still waiting on the full debrief.
