I currently don’t own a vehicle worthy of a ceramic coating treatment. My Montero is used to bash through trails, my Mustang is a table, and my Mercedes hasn’t had an engine longer than my child has been alive. Still, I’m curious about how well those coatings work. They create a hydrophobic layer over your paint that repeals water and makes car cleaning an easier affair. It seems like Mothers has created a simpler and far less costly way to get the same effect with a new lineup of products.

It’s called the California Gold Ceramic Line, not to be confused with Acapulco Gold or the California Gold Rush. The lineup consists of a Spray Wax, a bottle of Paint Correction, and a Wash and Wax. The idea is that you can use these if you have a ceramic coating already or if you don’t but still want that hydrophobic performance.
You can use the wash and wax in a foam-cannon setup. The Spray Wax creates that paint protection layer, and the paint correction can be used to get rid of light scratches, water spots, oxidation, and other bits of paint-screwing pain.

It’s all on sale at the moment too. Mothers is offering a 30% discount starting today through May 4th. So if you have a vehicle with paint worthy of protection, this could be a good deal – assuming you like hand-washing your own vehicle.
