The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile debuted in 1936 as a 13-foot long metal sausage built by the General Body Company of Chicago, Illinois. Ever since then Mayer’s Wiener has grown, and today it rides on a GMC truck chassis, powered by a Vortec V8. Of course there are those who pine for the simpler times of the past and for those the famous hot dog company has created a smaller wiener, based on a Mini Cooper. That cocktail frank of a car may not impress the ladies, but at least, like the original, it doesn’t make its driver look like he’s compensating for something.
