At this year’s Father’s Day car show on Beverly Hills’ famed Rodeo Drive, the Peterson Museum brought out their 1964 901 in celebration of the marque’s 50th anniversary. Possibly Porsche’s most beloved model, the 911 sired dozens of offspring models over those years which also made it a perfect automotive analog for the human Father’s celebrating the day.

When I think of the 901, this is the car I always visualize (the T7 754):

I've always thought it was weird but cool looking. Just the novelty, I guess.
It is cool looking, but I thought it was an earlier prototype before the whole Peugeot 901 -> 911 thing, hence the 754. Wait a minute I just looked it up and wiki says the design number was 695, so I have no idea anymore. Still it's a neato car.
I'm just thinking I want to see that evolved through the years like the 911. A 991-ized one of these could be endearingly stodgy.
It would be easier to make a good looking Panamera out of this than out of the 911. Just stretch the area between front door and rear tire a bit and add a door on each side. Headroom for everyone without making a hunchback out of it.

Just pretend it's a four-door.

I'm only a few years older than my 901 but, somehow, it has done a much better job of maintaining its youthful good looks and excitement. Middle age isn't always fair.
CMC make one more affordable for the rest of us…

Somebody should show that picture to Porsche, I'm pretty sure that's how we want 911s to look.
