So this is just a Photoshop job, and a bit jaw dropping in its level of automotive blasphemy at that, but you know somewhere there’s somebody sitting there like that fancy cat meme, thinking, I should totally eff-up MY classic Merc!

"break" or "brake"? I thought "brake".
Anyway, it's a shame MB never made one.
agree.. pet peeve swapping those terms. like tike they're/there/their, and to/too
Mercedes has contributed to the confusion.

Take yer shooting brake on a
hunting tripshooting break, amirite?Except that it's neither a shooting brake nor a shooting break. I am guessing that "4-door wagon with a stupid roofline" didn't do as well in focus groups.
It actually can be either, although it's more common for the French to use the Break.
Both spellings are correct, much like theater and theatre.
It'd make a cool kit car, though MB would never allow any company to blaspheme their design in such a way.
On the other hand…

I guess now someone's going to have to design Volvo P1800 wagon with gull wing doors. http://www.der-autoteile-blog.de/wp-content/uploa…
ABOMINATION!!!
The rear window is definitely ruining it for me. I like Shooting Brakes and Wagons as much as the next hoon, but this applies to both this and the Deauville from a few days ago; some things should just be left alone.
For me it's the little melted vent. It's so awkward and possibly included just because he thought something had to be there.
Totally agree with you! Apart from that space-filler-vent, I like it. A garage containing the above Aston, a P1800ES and a Gullwing shooting brake would make me happy for a long time.
Where matters of German Gulls are concerned…

…perhaps it should be a Shooting Beak?
Shooting Brake, doing it wrong.

OT, what's a good place to get a rear end for a Volvo S90? I've called some yards here, no S90s or 960s nearby. Maybe some other RWD Volvo would do? Is there a place online to check a bunch of places at once?
You said "rear end" and because of the subject of the post I was thinking body work, as if to weld to another vehicle. Heh. I'm assuming though that you mean the diff/axle/etc? Do you have an S90 that you're repairing? They're independent rear so the earlier cars rear ends won't fit. Where are you located?
Car-part.com is a good junkyard search engine. It doesn't search u-pull-it type yards, only the "they pull it" yards that have parts-level inventory systems. But it's excellent at finding at least a couple possibilities not too far away.
A friend has a junky S90 but I think he's keeping it complete for now. He's got a habit: (1) 960 wagon, (1) daily driver S90, (1) junky S90. On top of several other vehicles. I can't point fingers, he's tied with me for car count.
That was the site I could not recall, thanks! I'm Mike S from near Chicago. And yes I meant the diff. I searched for Differential Assembly, hope that's right, but now I have places to call and ask. Mine has LSD internals, not all were and no easy way to tell except lift back and check cause the tag falls off. Where is your friend located? Does he know if it's LSD too? I think other RWD axles would work, but maybe not, possibly the case is different. The IRS parts in the sedan are all right behind it. That actually makes it quite annoying, like how to fill new gear oil? I bet I would have to lift car and then use floor jack on pumpkin to get it just right to fit an extension and then a section of hose. Anyway, thanks again!
I do think "Differential Assembly" is the right thing to pick. I'm not sure if his is an LSD, and again, I doubt he would want to sell it. I will check with him, but we're all the way down in Columbus, OH. That's not an insurmountable distance from Chicago, but a local one would make more sense.
I always have problems remembering that site. I try carparts, car-parts, blah blah blah. Car-part.com doesn't seem obvious.
Thanks!
I'd register on swedishbricks.net, stat, and post up a plea to the group. It's a very active board, a lot of the most active members are/were mechanics, some of them long-time Volvo guys, and I'd be surprised if someone couldn't come up with the correct diff pretty quick. At the very least, they'll grill you & come up with diagnoses and all the necessary part numbers (and likely which other models you can source the needed parts from). Be sure to read the FAQ & posting protocols, since some of the guys can be a little prickly at times.
As far as RWD Volvo resources go, they are top notch. Better than turbobricks or any other Volvo forum for getting high-value information in pretty short order.
You mean the email mailing list?
D'oh!
Yep. List, not board.
I've no idea if this is of any help whatsoever, but an uncle of mine works in a Ford parts department and suggested that you might try a Ford Freestyle diff. Apparently they're stamped with "Volvo", so it's worth a shot. I might have all the details wrong, but check your local Ford dealer.
Thanks, but it's likely for FWD/AWD instead.

Sometimes a shooting brake works, and works well.
