Had he lived, next month Anthony Bruce Colin Chapman would be 84 years old. Instead he barely made it into the 1980s, succumbing to a heart attack at age 54 back in 1982. Years before that he posed for this picture with a Lotus Esprit S2 and JPS-liveried (Team Lotus’s primary sponsor at the time) Cessna 421 Golden Eagle. This is Chapman in his prime, and a reflecting on the man who created both a racing empire and a road car concern is a great way to end the week.
