Continuing on with our Van-Tastic Weekend, I had to highlight at least one over-the-top Custom van, and thanks to AutoTrader Classics, here is the perfect van to do so. It is a 1979 Dodge Maxi-Van, the largest Dodge Van made. It is soooooooooooooooo over-wrought with details, from it’s Black & Gold Paint, to the Velour and Shag Carpeted interior, to the rear wing on the roof….. Why its a rolling Bordello!
I will let the listing speak for itself:
Now that your back from that flashback, let us remind you that you are checking out an awesome 1979 Dodge Maxivan. If the 70s aren’t your thing then you might want to move on, but if you remember rockin’ tie-die shirts and long hair continue on. Shortly after being bought in 1979, this van was fully customized to what it is today. It is truly a time capsule blasting you back to the 70s. If you haven’t noticed yet, the car is covered from top to bottom in custom graphics and airbrushing. The Black paint paired with the Gold oldschool graphics look great broken up by a section of custom artwork wrapping the entire car.
The car is powered by a 318 V8 that has no problem getting this thing down the road. What is so custom about the engine you ask? Well, its located underneath the dash! There was no room in the engine compartment so this V8 was custom mounted right inside the cab. Most people think cruisin’ around town might be difficult. This is not the case at all! With power brakes, power brakes, and cruise control it couldn’t be easier! While the van is all original from 1979 multiple items have been replaced to keep it running strong; new Flo Pro dual exhaust, new K&N filter, new front brakes, new master cylinder, new in line fuel filters, new battery, new voltage regulator, new heavy duty alternator, new holly carburetor, and a new fuel pump! Hate stopping for gas? Well with its 36 gallon fuel tank you will be filling up 1/3 amount that everyone else is. Save money on hotels because this ride is a hotel on wheels! From the bed in the back to the refrigerator and lounge chair this thing has it all! This thing is incredibly comfortable to cruise around in. Being more like a piece of history than a vehicle this 70s classic wont last long!
Asking price for this STD on wheels is $23,000!. This van has 33,000 miles on the odometer, so we have to assume that is was used as a love shack at some point in its life. So does this make you want to get a pair of Bell Bottom Jeans, a tie-die t-shirt, and go cruisin in your mock afro and beads? See the original listing here.
