Dense fog. You’re driving, cautiously as you may when suddenly, right in front of you are a bunch of stopped cars due to an accident. You stop, you get the car off the road, what do you do then?
I don’t have an answer to that question, but the people in the video seem to have the right idea. They got out of their cars and go away from the road. The accident occurred in Slovenia where very dense fog and high speeds contributed to this pileup which included over fifty cars, several trucks, and a bus. Unfortunately four people died and 25 were hurt.

My last road trip North from FL. in 2006 I crested a rise on I-75 and it was a parking lot in my lane, the guy behind me hit the median and I got an opening on the right. Missed death or dismemberment by inches.

I can’t fathom the stupidity behind it. Fog and fog banks deserve respect. I have often experienced people passing me in local fog, say on a high mountain pass, that I then pass again once the fog clears. They were stubbornly driving the same speed all the time…which is even more stupid considering that on small mountain roads, goats, reindeers or Germans with cameras might suddenly appear in the middle of the road in all conditions.

Here’s a similar video from around here.. I drive this bit pretty much every day, and the visibility on that day was probably the worst i’ve experienced. At worst you couldn’t see rear foglights 5m ahead of you, and yet I was passed by several idiots going 100kph+.
