I’m sitting at the airport in Houston at the moment, during a layover in my trip home from the New York Auto Show. Since I have a bit of time, I figure it can’t hurt to browse the local vehicles for sale on the lists of Craig and Bays of e. Since this is Texas I’m talking about, I figured I should keep my eye out for a grand vehicle in honor of Fantasy Finds Friday.

I found the one…

It’s a 1966 Lincoln Convertible, and it’s listed on eBay for sale right here in Houston. Go big or get the hell out of this state… isn’t that the saying?

The reserve hasn’t been met (at the time of this writing) with [sc:ebay itemid=”321381199599″ linktext=”the high bid sitting at just $7,600″]. I’m not sure how much more the seller is expecting, but it would be no surprise he or she considered this a $12,000 to $15,000 car. It’s not perfect, but the suicide-door-wearing Conti convertibles can fetch handsome sums in a range of conditions.

I like this particular car as a starting point for a wonderful project. The red paint is nice, but I’d probably trade it for a deep, dark, and glossy black coat. Additionally, I’d take the original wheels off, store them in the garage, and plop on some nice wire wheels wearing white-wall tires. The interior would receive some love as well.

That’s it though, as the rest of the car should lend itself well as is to being a grade-A Texas-highway comfort cruiser.
