Beautiful Italian design, that’s what this is. Especially in dark green. The Sport Wagon version of the later Nuova incarnation of the Alfa Romeo Alfa 33 gives the car a handier amount of interior space, while maintaining the classy glasshouse style.

From this shot, you can see how I neglected to shoot all the modern Porsches and stuff like that, and focused on the things that are important. Like late ’80s Pininfarina designs.
I also had to dodge not only vans but bicyclists. Seriously, there’s a ridiculous amount of bikes everywhere in Amsterdam. You need to be 100% aware of your 360°, 24/7.
Yes, I used the word “dodge” in regards to the white van, but might just as well have said “freightliner”, heh heh.
The badging on this 1.7-litre, boxer-engined Alfa was on its way off the car, due to dents acquired and glue failing.
For a little while, I was convinced all the peppered spots on the doors were rust, but it’s just assorted crap. Maybe the owner habitually drives through pools of bird poo on his daily run.

That's quite a rare car nowadays. The 33 (hatch) used to be everywhere in the 90s, in the early 90s the 33 had a market share around 1% in the Netherlands. Which (the 1%, not the Netherlands) is huge. Somehow it seems like all 33s died many years ago. Earlier than their contemporaries. It's good to see some did survive.
Yum. Just yum. I would gladly take on the challenges of part sourcing in the heartland to make this my DD.
I think my garage needs an Alfa badge on the wall somewhere. Ideally, there would be an Alfa stuffed in there, too, but I've only got one spot and it's already taken…
I'm a heathen. That's an Alfa that elicits mostly "eh, OK" from me.
But the mention of white Freightliner brings to mind one of my favorite Townes van Zandt tunes. Just found this version recently:

Alfa wago is boxy boxer cool.
My memory may be clouded by age and indifference, but I believe this iteration of the 33 was styled in house by Alfa's then new design head, the name of whom escapes me.
These posts are great, I haven't been to Amsterdam since I was a little kid. I think a return trip is in order.
Needs more 4×4!
