I’ve wanted to drive the Mercedes-AMG E63S wagon for… a long time now. Did it live up to the hype I created in my head? Oh yes.
This is one damn fine machine. It’s rare to find a wagon for sale in the US. Now add in the fact that this one is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 making 603 hp, and it’s an AMG built longroof unicorn, and I love it. If you’ve got at least $112,000 to spare, I suggest you pick one up.
This one though… costs $162,000.
[Disclaimer: Mercedes-Benz tossed us the keys to its AMG E63S wagon and included a tank of fuel.]
I think I would be willing to give up a little handling in order to gain back a third row.
I do wish it had the 3rd row as well. I think you can actually get that in other markets.
Edit: I might be wrong about that…
But I do know that in Canada they can order the C43 as a wagon

There’s one in my building, and it pleases me every time I drive by it.
I read somewhere that the AMG wagon is unavailable with a third row because suspension stuff occupies the area where the footwell would otherwise reside, but tamer versions of the platform do offer a tailgunner seat.
I wish it had stayed a little more square in the back like the W212, but still on the dream car shortlist.
Very nice.
Now, would it be so hard for the folks over at FCA to go dust off a couple of stamping machines and make a Magnum Hellcat?
Which now that I think of it, should be the name of a band or ski run or something.

I’d happily drive that and not bitch even once about the lack of a manual transmission. Nice f’ing car.
high praise indeed
