Let’s continue on with our Memorial Day Weekend Edition with a couple of European Imports, which is very appropriate in celebrating the day dedicated to remembering the wars we fought overseas so that we can have the freedom we enjoy today. Like purchasing vehicles from those same overseas countries we were fighting against, or that we came to the rescue for. So in honor of this day, here are two distinctive Europeans snatched from the Blue Car Appreciation Society Facebook Page. One is very desirable, the other one is… well, you be the judge…
Here is a 1983 Mercedes-Benx 300 TD Wagon finished in a Magnificent Blue hue that is carried right into the interior. According to the listing:
1983 Mercedes 300TD Station wagon turbodiesel,Looks&Runs great, strong engine,Rebuild transmission,205,000 Miles,Maintenance records,no leaks, very dependable, roomy,The suspension and rear SLS works great,Wagon is a rust free. This car has been very well maintained and never neglected oil change every 3000 miles valve adjustment every 25k, Good paint, Straight body no dents, clean interior except the dash have some cracks,Third row seat.
Serious buyers only, The car is cash in hand test drives only If you are not seriously considering buying the car PLEASE do not waste my time and yours.
The price for this oil powered Benz Wagon is $8,200 FIRM. That is all well and good, and it is a rather desirable wagon, but is this the right price for what is a relatively high mileage vehicle? See the Los Angeles Area Craigslist listing here, and tell me what you think…
This is a 2002 Jaguar S-Type Sedan, and I don’t know whether to laugh or cry… It is finished in an OK shade of blue, but the rims and the interior are beyond anything that could be called tasteful. According to the listing:
hi i have an 02 blue jaguar s-type 4 door clean title it has 140k miles I’m asking for $5000 OBO this is a one of a kind, its a beautiful car inside and out, it has custom blue and red suede interior, 22” Ashanti rims, car runs good no problems. im also open for trades.
Actually, to have a Jaguar run flawlessly for 140,000 miles is quite an achievement, but the modifications will take quite a bit of cash to undo. Easy fix is to jettison the rims, and install tasteful OEM alloys or even silver (not chrome) Wire Wheels. The interior will take some work though. The problem is not with the seats themselves (finding matching Leather to go with the door trim won’t be hard) but the headliner will have to be replaced, as well as the steering wheel, and dashboard. And who wants “JT” embroidered on the head restraints unless your initials are “JT”…
The asking price of $5,000 seems steep, especially with all the mods that have to be taken care of… See the Los Angeles area Craigslist Listing here, and help me out in finding a way of making this car desirable.
