Well, let’s call this weekend the Brown Car Appreciation Weekend, as I am highlighting cars that appeared on the Brown Car Appreciation Society Facebook Page. Here we have an Alfa Romeo Alfetta from 1979 listed on Craigslist, only it’s been slightly modified. See if you can make out the modifications…
According to the listing:
Up for sale is a 1979 ALFA ROMEO ALFETTA SPORT 4 DOOR SEDAN. This custom vehicle was owned by an automobile enthusiast who had a penchant for spirited Italian automobiles. It is powered by Alfa’s famous twin cam 2000 cc inline 4 and mated to a 5 speed. The Alfettas have near perfect 50:50 weight distribution due to the placement of the transaxle. The body is very straight and the paint presents beautifully. Interior is in excellent condition as well and the car has not been smoked in.
The vehicle spent it’s life garaged and was used sparingly over the last 6 years due to serious illness. It starts right up and settles into a smooth idle. There are Bilsteins at all 4 corners and the steering is nice and taut. Brakes are solid and the tires are recent. For those of you in the know, Alfa Romeo is a true driver’s car. If you are looking for a clean Alfa sedan, this is your car! The car has a clean title and is currently registered. No reasonable cash offers will be refused.
Asking price for this Brown Masterpiece is $4,000, which seems to be quite a lot for an Italian Car with almost 100,000 miles on the odometer. Now about those modifications…
These tail lamps look cheesy, and I wonder is you can locate a set of OEM units to make the rear panel look OK.
The driver seat looks OK, until you realize that it will never recline! This listing has a lot of pictures (for a Craigslist Listing) so why not go here, and see if this Alfa is the one for you.
Well, at least the oil leak looks like original equipment.
Yeah, so far this is the Brown Car Puddle Appreciation Weekend.
Is the topic brown cars or brown puddles?
Since I don't have to choose, I guess I won't.
Isn't marking your territory typical alfa behavior?
I want wheels like these on all of my cars.
I think that the stock taillights look better

the later ones were good enough for Pininfarina's Spider proposal

I had a '76. With old weather cracked nearly bald hard rubber tires. The thing slid beautifully. Once you broke it loose you simply steered with your right foot. Damn that was fun.
I remember my dad had one when he was working in Italy in the early 80's, I think he shoved a Ferrari engine it haha.
My dad is crazy!
