Let’s continue with our showcase featuring cars that have been brought to our attention by the Wagons HO! Facebook pages, and here is a good ‘un. The dealer (Dallas Roadsters of Richardson, Texas) misidentified this car as a Fairlane 500, when in fact it is a full sized Ford Country Sedan. This car presses all the right buttons…
According to the listing:
1967 Ford Fairlane 500 4 Door Station Wagon runs and drives great, it has the MATCHING NUMBERS 390 cid, with automatic, power steering, power brakes, and a/c. Showing 32,000 miles. Paint is two years old, interior is original and in good condition. Carpet could ues replacing and all glass is good. This one is ready to enjoy!!
A 390 with factory A/C and the twin facing rear seats… It’s ready to go cross country! Asking price for this piece of Americana is $8,500, which plunks this in the relative bargain category. Take a look at the listing here, and tell me what you think.
Wow, looks great. When I started Tacoma shopping, Dallas Roadster has a nice one I was considering. The pictures were taken at DART's (Dallas Area Rapid Transit's) Bush Turnpike Station, under the President George Bush Turnpike (that's it above, in the last picture) just east of where it intersects North Central Expressway (US 75). The first picture is looking west towards Central, with the westbound PGBT exit ramps above. They take a lot of their ad pictures there.
I wonder how well this thing runs on E10, and if it has any vapor lock problems because of it?
Is this an existing offer? The same car was advertised with the same photos (!) and for the same price in october 2010:

Yeah, Dallas Roadster doesn't have this listed among the 3 Fords they have right now.

It may be an old listing. But, I went back to the zibe.com main page and did a search for 1967-1977 cars, and it's still there. The date on the ad is 6/3/13. Very strange.
Strange indeed. It is a dream vehicle and a time capsule. I don't really find something I don't like – that's probably why I remembered it. But who knows what happens to a car that has been parked under a turnpike for three years… =8^)
Well, that's better than if it were a van down by the (Trinity) river…
Looks like someone added a CD ignition (box on the right inner fender). I think rear seats were called "dual facing".
It's got dual everything.
Yes this one is just right for me. only thing I would add is a modern sic or even eight speed automatic, this would probably add at least $500 to the price but I dont think I would ever get rid of it. That is even if I could afford to even buy the car.
From two forward gears to six or eight? Would be quite a leap. A manual gearbox is not an option with a front bench? I'd consider 500$ for such an upgrade dirt cheap.
Sorry it was supposed to be $5000. Using a smartphone. haptic feedback is the only way to know if I hit the right button. If I were not in such a rush to get out the door I would have reread my comment and fixed my error. It sure would be nice if you could gather such new components for that price. But I doubt that even $5000 would cover a new six or eight speed autobox and a stand alone TCM to control one. I could opt for a manual but that would ruin the easy going cruser aspect of the car, and make me want to take full advantage of that 390's torque.
You could drop a Gear Vendors overdrive behind the transmission on this one for less than 3k, complete.
I looked into it for my 67, pretty easily done.
Thats would be the easy way to gain a coupla extra cogs, I seem to like the hard way for some reason, maybe I like the payoff or maybe its would be the uniqueness of it. who knows, either way it would make a huge difference in the fuel economy and would probably make it much more quiet in the cabin. Its all just a vision in my head anyway cause living on a pension at 33 years old is tight. But at least I can dream.
Considering the fact that the upholstery looks to be either astonishingly well-preserved or relatively recently replaced, I wonder why they didn't change the carpets, too.
First things first.
Remote the steering wheel cover. I hate those things.
Drop a C6 into it, unless there is a 4-speed auto which will bolt up relatively easily.
Then, hide a stereo/speakers…and not four 15" IQ blasters, either…with a moderately sized multi-channel amp, and you're ready to rock…and roll.
Oh, and bring a credit card with a large amount left on it, because you'll need it for fuel.
1967 has always been my favorite year for Ford station wagons. I'm thinking about buying one and bring it back to 100 percent factory stock and keeping it that way. No modifications at all. This car is a beauty and a real piece of rolling American history that I would be proud to own.
