According to the listing:
Okay, this was a 4 door 1996 dodge stratus. The body was hand made by an aeronatic engineer (in metal). The car could use some block and sanding and repainting. As you see in the picture the car does look good. This is a full size dodge stratus that was turned into a coupe. Plenty of leg room, door popers, runs and drives, everything works, security alarm system and even has a one piece fiberglass top that is covered in black cloth with a glass window. Car has 19 inch custom rims. Interior has standard stratus interior and if I keep this car, I will customize the interior. This car runs and drives. The builder put a different type of headlights on the car, but they work fine. This will be the only time I will advertise this car for sell. This car has never been advertised before. The engine is in the front and is a standard dodge stratus 6 cylinder engine. I will provide more pictures of the car and of the top. The top is totally removable and very custom. Looks like the real thing.
Yea, it looks like the real thing……. if you’re drunk! Take a look at the listing here.
Has the supply of Fieros finally dried up?
9 idiots have actually bid on this thing so far for almost $5000! I think I had rather have his Camaro Fauxrarri, it looks nothing like a Ferrari, but does improve on the looks of an 88 Camaro, except for the hideous white interior. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes-…
I think that interior burned my retinas. I still can't figure out what frickin Ferrari that is based off of.
What I really want to know about is that sweet Z28 and Lagonda in the backgrounds.
I see a little F40 (basket handle wing), some Testarossa ( side flares and intake), a little 308 (weak attempt at rear flying buttresses), maybe some 456GT (the ill fitting headlights), and a touch of Porsche 911(the grill) in there. Probably best they didn't try to copy any one model exactly.
Wow, "homemade" doesn't begin to describe that. I'd like to see it run over by some kind of tracked vehicle.
This should be the next 24hrs of LeMons parade lap vehicle.
Just so long as it gets to share in the People's Curse too.
So I can only assume that Lagonda sitting behind it is lovingly rendered in fiberglass and Bondo, and based on a 2.2L '88 Dodge Dynasty, with no modifications to the drivetrain or interior. And the Benz is probably a poorly repaired salvage title with a 305/TH400 swap, sitting on tasteful 15" Center Line wheels. I can almost smell the pleather of the J.C. Whitney seat covers from here.
Also, P161911, it "does improve on the looks of an 88 Camaro"? Really? I mean, the '88 Camaro may be no great shakes, but that thing looks like a generic sports car from a mid 90's video game, only without the cathartic option to blow it up with a grenade.
I had a lot of fun when I was younger, this caused a flash back that wasn't fun. It is horrible. Some sort of Salvador Dali version of a Lambo but not nearly artistic.
Also, looking at some of those panel gaps and cut lines, I think his spell check accidentally substituted "aeronautic" when what he meant to say was "alcoholic."
Why would someone build something like this? Did they lose a bet?
What crappy workmanship. The fool that cobbled this together obviously has no pride or skill. I also question his eyesight. An aeronautic engineer? I hope to Christ that none of us ever ride on an aircraft that he worked on. Or touched.
Ok, guys Lets give a little credit where credit is due. Ask yourselves these questions:
Does it look better than an original 1996 Dodge Stratus?
Could the workmanship be any worse than an original 1996 Dodge Stratus?
Could any of you have done what he's done (I didn't say "would", I said "could")?
I wouldn't be caught dead bidding on it, but overall, I say "win".
"This will be the only time I will advertise this car for sell."
I think I speak for us all when I say that we can only hope that we never have to look at this thing again.
Those panel gaps would make a late model Saturn blush.
Let's have a quiz. This thing is horrible to look at, but you have to look to answer this question… Where did the headlamps used on this "Piece-O-Crap" originate from? Look closely, and comment away….
Headlamps? Lexus LF-A. or 458 Italia, you can find then at your local Pep Boys Exotics Shop. High end markets only.
I'll guess last gen Toyota Celica.
It looks cross-eyed.
Many Pokemons died to bring this abomination to life.
If the level of fit and finish (relative) is any indication, this will probably be a heap of rust soon.
Hopefully.
I was hoping you would give the answer. I thought Celica headlights until I checked the interwebs, most others failed the google image search too. So in short, I give up. What is it?
Stop holding back, Manic. Tell us how you REALLY feel! LOL!!
So you're telling me that if someone handed you a Stratus and said "here, fabricate a body by hand for this", then you would actually be able to do it and make it look better? Where would you start? How would you fabricate the shell and the body panels?
I'm not one to criticize someone's work unless I know I can actually do it better myself. Personally, I wouldn't know where to begin.
Well, why should anyone with a reasonable amount of self-criticism start a job one knows will end like this.
Or if someone starts the job optimistically and sees that well, result is crap, why paint it and sell it like this dude does? It's like he has made mold but then couldn't decide which side to use for body part molding or if the mold itself is ok for body.
I'm not saying my car would look better. I'm saying that person with half brain would not even start to do this.
I really can't see any virtue in building car body with so low quality……..sorry.
If you are owner of this…..thing…then well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder…..of course
The Ferraramaro listing is the greatest thing I've ever read! It contains gold such as the following;
"This car was a daily driver for me for at least 2 years. I really got tired of being stopped by the police (they have on board computers) when checking the license plates the plaes would come up as a 1988 Camaro. They would stop me and always ask, why do you have Camaro plates on a ferrari."
Pure freaking redneck art. I love it.
I want to know what this aeronautical engineer worked on in his 9-5 so I can avoid it like the plague. I don't want to fly in anything this guy had a hand in.
I have a great deal of admiration for anyone who sets out to hand build his own car. Even if it is rebodying a Stratus. That doesn't mean I would want to own it.
Nice MR2 Spyder replica.
Photographs are generally forgiving as to vehicle condition, which begs the question "Just how hideous is this thing in person?"
There also appears to be another monument in Bondo in the making under that car cover. I can't wait for it to be complete and up on ebay, in a "I know I can't un-see it" sort of "two girls, one cup" sort of way. It will haunt me until my dying day, but God help me, I just can't not look.
What's really pathetic about this pig is the fact that it already has 128,000 miles. That's just great. The genius started with a crummy used car, then put in all this futile effort to end up with…this. Not only is it as ugly as the dog's lunch, it's gonna nickel and dime you to death besides. I really would like to see who ends up buying this misdemeanor.
I just checked the bid history. There are no less than 5 idiots that think this thing is worth at least $3100!
This is just the thing that someone like Lamborghini should build. Oh, hang on. . . . .
Ha! No wonder it looks 'cross eyed'!
Great post! keep on updating us, you are doing splendid job!
looks like a nigerian funeral casket
