I love trophy trucks. These are super simple machines that are also very technically marvelous at the same time. Chris Isenhouer has built what might be the best one of the bunch. That’s beacauze it combines old-school-cool style with modern go-fast bits. This is a 1969 Ford F100 with a Chevy LS crate motor heart and all of the travel.
Isenhouer showed off his truck for a new series called Super Vision. It’s created by Heat Wave Visual and does a wonderful job blending standard shots with amazing drone footage.
This is one hell of a subject upon which to kick off this intriguing series. A handful of folks are building up vintage trucks with this sort of ability, yet Isenhouer likely has the beefiest one of them all. My own F100 was dubbed HoonTruck… but this is the real deal.

Amazing machine, but isn’t it sacrilege to put a Chevy engine into a Ford? Wouldn’t it be cleaner to throw a raptor motor in there?
-
The Raptor motor would be great, but it’s so damn big. The LS convenience factor goes a long way in the world of motorsport.
Also, I’m all for sacrilegious motor swaps… -
I like the concept of honoring brand lineage in swaps, but let’s be honest– that truck is hardly an F100 even without an engine. Its Ford face is just for aesthetics.
-
But aren’t all motorsport faces just for aesthetics? And pub arguments.
-
Absolutely. So, this isn’t really a Ford at all. No sacrilegious infractions.

Respectfully, is anything on that truck actually manufactured by Ford….a bit of the grille maybe?
That is as much a Ford as the Yankees are a bunch of kids from New York City. -
The only time a Chevy engine in a Ford raises any eyebrows is in a Cobra replica and even then it doesn’t generate any actual hate. Browse the Factory Five forums and you’ll find most builders using a SBF or Coyote but there are a few LS builders.

LS motors are in everything! Miatas, DeLoeans what’s next. I’m sure it would fit nicely in a Jag XJ sedan. Fab motors.

It is a category killer. It has everything the Gen 1 SBC had in terms of size and parts availability, but so much low-hanging fruit power potential. Bench racers would have had an aneurysm if you told them in the mid 80’s that you would soon be able to take a 325 cubic inch truck engine, and without even removing the heads get an easy 375 horsepower. That’s bonkers.

Great comment. The fact that we can go to any airport rental agency and borrow a Mustang with a 300 bhp turbo 2.3L 4 cylinder? Unthinkable a few short years ago….

GM V8’s are total SLUTS…you never know where you will find one sleeping….
