Last Call- I Have a Dream Edition

405449JS-10
Today’s the day we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday here in the U.S.. One of the most influential shapers of the civil rights debate in this country, King is remembered for his inspirational 1963 speech – best known as the I Have a Dream speech – where he envisioned a nation without racism. We’re not there yet, but here is another Dream from the sixties, a Honda 305 Dream. Yes, it’s a really awkward way to commemorate the day, but at least I tried.
Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.

Anyone else finding that maybe 40% of the time you hit the site, the comments are formatted oddly and all the image links are broken? A refresh generally puts it back, but it seems to be happening more often and it's annoying.

Yes, definitely weird comment-formatting stuff frequently (and solved by reloading the page). When it happens, HTML for images is displayed, instead of, you know, actually displaying the intended pix.
I'm running Chrome on an elderly Dell laptop w/Vista at the moment (similar behavior on my equally elderly, but far more garbage-y HP w/Vista, also on Chrome).

Exactly. I'm running Chrome as well, on Windows 7 machines. I'm seeing it both when going direct to the site and when opening the full page from within Feedly or Netvibes. I don't recall seeing it on Chrome my Android tablet or phone.

Ditto on arriving from Netvibes or directly. (Can't remember the last time I visited the 'verse on my phone. Don't care for the mobile-formatted version.)

Same happens for me running Firefox on a windows 7 HP, computer is 3 years old or so.

I get what I presume to be the smartphone version of the page a lot; particularly when I hit the 'comments' link instead of the headline (permalink). No images, funky avatars, etc. Yeah, refresh. You can eliminate the hash tag idc container from the URL and that works, too. More steps, but it was my old work around.

Does a situation exist for which there is no relevant XKCD strip? I'm convinced there is not.

There may be, but it's kind of like how Rule 35 of the Internet is a fulfillment of Rule 34. Eventually, there will be a relevant xkcd strip for every conceivable situation.

Well, now that you mention it… I've had trouble viewing Hooniverse for many months now. I'm running Safari on OS 10.6. The home page usually loads up fine, but when I jump to an article, it is sometimes formatted oddly and I end up reloading to get it to look right.
But, without fail, if I hit the "back" button on my browser to return to the home page, it reloads the article I'm already on instead. Every. Time. My workaround has been to always jump to articles from the home page via right click and "open link in new window", rather than directly. This is the only site where I have to perform this dance, but as I usually visit several times a day, it's an ingrained habit.
Also, they force me to use Chrome (blech) on my PC at work, and I've noticed odd formatting issues there, too, but not like I do with Safari.

Same here with Opera on Android 4.4.2, Firefox 35 on Windows 7 and 8. Obviously a faulty source, when I read the other comments.

Yes. On my phone (Android/Chrome) I tried flipping from mobile to desktop. Now I can't reply to comments (I can start a new comment thread, though), and I can't switch back to mobile, either.

Seeing the same thing on a…6-year-old?…Thinkpad W500 running Windows 7 32-bit and Firefox. I thought it might have something to do with my outdated version of Firefox (I'm still on 24.0, been meaning to update it), but apparently it's not limited to that.

I've also got a Dream and I'm waking it from a three decade slumber. It's getting electronic ignition installed later this week. Anyone curious can find it here: http://davesanborn.blogspot.com/
We're moving to Tampa in a couple months. Anyone care to recommend a classic bike mechanic there?
