It’s the last weekend in January which means that the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona is upon us. The 24 Hours of Daytona, as it is commonly known, is the start of the 2019 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. This year, the 12-race season start off with over 90 cars of 19 brands, and six classes. Those are very different numbers from a year ago. This year Michelin becomes the Official Tire of IMSA, replacing Continental, too. Many automakers have shown off some really cool throw-back liveries.
Greg ‘The News Boy Man’ Kantspellhislastnameian and I will be there for the whole race. Greg will be with his college buddies, probably drinking way to much and living out of a rented minivan. I will be there as a guest of Michelin, who invited many distinguished journalists, and me, for this race. We both plan of staying up (maybe) for the whole 24 hours of the race. We will be taking pictures, walking around, talking to people, and absorbing the whole experience. We will have updates on our social media channels – Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We will also be posting stuff here.
Question for y’all is – what would you like to see?
Personally I have an affinity for the GT cars and I like seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff that you don’t get to see on television.
Speaking of television, IMSA’s own website has the broadcast schedule. To know what it is that you’re actually watching, here is the spotters’ guide.
