I make no bones about my love for Metallica, the mighty metal band from San Francisco. I first heard their music when I was a kid, and was hooked right away. Through the years, they’ve laid down some heavy tracks – not all of them exactly chart toppers – and as the members got older, their artistic interest began to expand. From classic art to horror movie props to rat rods, the aging rockers got their artistic fix by branching out beyond power chords and epic riffage.
James Hetfield, the lead singer and rhythm guitar player, has taken to custom cars (or is it kustom kars?), such as this beauty seen here, called the Black Pearl. Technically, it’s a 1948 Jaguar Mk2, but the body is almost completely handcrafted. I think it’s one of the coolest customs I’ve ever seen.
All that to ask this: which celebrity has the coolest car, and what is it? Let us know in the comments.

Stallone, Adrian Brody, Brangelina, and Shatner all own Phaetons.
-
Since Steve McQueen is long gone, we have to use past tense here. But he did have an amazing car – a Jaguar XK-SS.
-
McQueen never owned anything less than cool.
-
He also owned this stunning brown Ferrari 250 GT Lusso

Does Ralph Lauren count as a celebrity? It’s really hard to name a cooler car than his Type 57SC.
If not, then maybe something from Leno’s garage. Perhaps the EcoJet, because how big of a celebrity do you have to be in order to get GM to build you a concept car? But he has so many others to pick from, equally as cool. -
I wasn’t much of a Leno fan but his Garage shows are pretty good.

Not much of a celebrity follower here, but both “Saint”-actors reportedly loved their company cars.

I’ve heard that the producers of “The Saint” really wanted to use a Jaguar E-type as Simon Templar’s but Jaguar was not about to give them one for the TV series. Volvo was willing to provide a vehicle, however, so an 1800 got to be the Saint car.
-
That’s true. But “provide” = sell. It was an innocent age when the promotional value of film hero’s cars wasn’t recognized (yet). The filmmakers paid full price for the Volvo because waiting lists for the popular E-type were just too long.

I’m not sure how well known he is outside the British Commonwealth, but Norman Wisdom used to star in lots of British comedies. In an era when it was fashionable for celebrities to drive a Mini he instead chose a Sunbeam Stiletto which he had specially customised by the factory. This photo was taken in the Rootes Group’s competition department where race and rally cars were prepared.

I do. My Satellite.
For you juvenile punks, this is a scene from The Enforcer. Those maggots asked for a car, and I am about to give it to them, and its not going to be that crappy Wabbit.
