phantom309

The story told in Phantom 309 is a familiar one, about a hitchhiker whose chance meeting with a much needed ride turns into a tale to tell the grandkids. Still, this narrative ballad, written by Tommy Faile and released as a 1967 single by Red Sovine, is one of the best. The video is not an official one – such things just didn’t exist back then for small acts like Sovine – but its maker does compliment the song with plenty of great vintage truck imagery. If you haven’t ever heard Phantom 309, I think it’s worth your time, and you can do so, right after the jump.
