Craigslist Crapshoot

The World’s Worst Car Is For Sale On Craigslist

Welcome to Craigslist Crapshoot, our weekly search for the most bizarre, awesome, and/or terrible vehicles that the online classifieds has to offer. Last week I asked you to all become X-men (and women) and find all the Novas, Venturas, Omegas, and Apollos you could find, both normal and mutant. We’ll see if X marks the spot in a sec, but first this week’s assignment!

This week, let’s get personal, as in personal luxury coupes. The bigger the better and – here’s the kicker – I want them to be manual transmission equipped. I’ll bet you didn’t see that one coming.

And as usual, we want your finds to go down in infamy and not in the site’s spam filter. Follow any of the following advice and you’re crap will be known far and wide.

  1. Easiest way to not get caught in the spam filters is to create an IntenseDebate account. If you do so and your posts aren’t appearing, let us know at ti**@********se.info and we can put you on the whitelist
  2. If you don’t want an IDC account, you can create a wordpress.com account and do the same thing.
  3. If you’re the Ted Kaczynski type and don’t want any kind of account, then try to place only a single link in a comment and just drop any outgoing link in via its raw URL and not as a text link
Craigslist Crapshoot doesn’t work if your candidates don’t get seen, so hopefully following one of these options will ensure that the floodgates of crap are fully open. And now, Let’s see who wone the home-built look-a-like contest.

GM’s mid-sizers from the late sixties to the end of the seventies were solid, dependable, and not half bad to look at either. That remains the case today as proven by all the iron your were able to dredge up. The most interesting to my eyes was the black and white and red all over Chevy Nova that happens to now call Germany its home. It was found by Manic King, who also came across a Cadillac Seville vous le vous’ing in France. Freaky.

What really does it about this German Nova however – aside from the weird juxtaposition to the tiny Opel Nova its presence in Europe affords –  is the fact that it sports a faux AXEL F California plate on the front bumper. I like the thought of Germans pointing at that and exclaiming Ah-xel Eff, yhou know, Eddie Murphy? He liken zee transvestite hooker and zen not to be paying zem , hahahahahahah. Anyway, well done Manic_King.

  1. There doesn't appear to be much luxury on this 1960 Fairlane Club coupe, but I'm going to share it anyway, because you've just gotta love the stout 390 big block and 3-on-the-tree!

    1. Shh. Watch what you say about Crossfires. Their owners are a … passionate bunch. We've felt their limp wrath before in the 'Verse.

    1. Have fun shifting lefty.
It'll prepare me for the day I'm the Star In A Reasonably-Priced Car on Top Gear.

  2. The first two I wanted, I could not find currently for sale.
However, this is essentially in my Fort Worth backyard…which is very, very bad.

    Keep reading…it's the second one…
Though, I wonder how Lucas electrics are going to kill the manual trans.
REVENGE OF THE REVERSE LIGHT SWITCH!!!

    1. Ok so here is my issue with the second one. I thought the manual was only an option on about 400 of the original mid 70's XJS's. That they basically existed for the sake of car reviews and to give them reviewers a car that was faster then the normal stock one.

        1. Im from the Tantallon area, 20 minutes outside Halifax, and currently reside in Pictou. I asked because I thought that lark looked very familiar. The guy with the skyliner was selling another vicky as well, at one point.

    1. okay the interesting thing to note here is that they say 16v DOHC
IIRC the lima 2.3 they turbo'd for the Tbird Turbo was an SoHC unit – BUUUUUTtt you can swap Volvo 16v heads onto the lima block with a little work, apparently, as it's a semi-common swap. I have a turbo, manifold and injectors for one of these in my garage from a turbo ranger project I never finished.

      1. I think you just made me want it more…
Stupid lack of room for more cars…
        …and money…

    1. I owned a 99 Camry LE 5 speed actually. There was even a performance one called the SE from that generation.

    1. Me to… the only thing that would make it better would be the burnt orange leather guts, but I dont know if this was avaliable in 98.

      1. One of the prettiest wheels ever on a car. I had a '67 Ventura fastback for my first car, and always lusted after the 8-lugs…

        1. You are not a financial adviser.
A little cheaper and a little closer, I'd be looking at this one.

    1. What's up with Intense debate adding IMG tags to links? Please remove these to get partly English version of MobileDE website.

      1. It's been doing that for years whenever a link follows an image. The trick is either to avoid the practice or to go back immediately and edit it before someone "locks" it with a response. IntenseDebate doesn't add it again after it's been removed manually.

  3. Yes the personal luxary segment crapshoot dosnt seem to be producing much crap. Theirs only two cars here that I would not drive.

    1. I did not, but I did know that when the 3.4L DOHC V6 was introduced on the facelifted version a few years later, it was available with a 5-speed. The same drivetrain was offered in two of the three other GM10 coupes, the Lumina Z34 and Grand Prix GTP.

    2. I had a 5 speed '89 Grand Prix with the 2.8 v6 and my mother had the '90 Grand Prix with the 3.1 V6. It had the most rubbery shifter. I miss that car so much.

  4. This might barely meet the requirements. Even if it doesn't, this is the craigslist crapshoot. You get what you get and you're unhappy about it, damnit. It's got the pedigree: limited information, screwed up pictures, dreams (and price) beyond measure. Enjoy at your peril.

oh yeah, and some spelling mistakes:
"This is a basket case 912 porsche that the interior was on fire the motor and trans is compleate"
