Brown 1973 AMC Hornet Sportabout Wagon Resurfaces

Hooniverse is the automotive equivalent of the friends chanting “do it! do it!” when you’re considering jumping into the pool from the second story roof. We’re elated when people actually buy some of the rides we dredge up. (Side note: if you actually buy something we link to on ebay, we make a few bucks).

Back in 2014, Jim Brennan featured this brown AMC Hornet Sportabout Wagon out of Phoenix. Kevin reached out to us this week to let us know he bought it from that listing. He’s done a few upgrades on it since then, and it’s back up for sale again on LA Craigslist. Hit the jump to check out his walk-through videos.

Interior:

I just want to point out those interior arm rest/handle things are the same part that’s used on a Wagoneer. Love that AMC parts bin!
Engine Start Up and Run:

Exterior Walkaround:

Not a bad little ride for right around $3k. Anyway, I still contend it needs the angriest breathed-on 4.7L stroker straight six you could build backed by the beefiest stickshift that’ll bolt up to it.

    1. They were from the old radiator and were replaced with new when upgraded to 100% all aluminum HD radiator. I forgot I left them there. Thanks, their in the trash now.

    1. It has one extra leaf in the spring pack. In one hour or less could have back factory. Hop I dint spel nuthin rong.

  1. Is that an HEI distributor, out of some GM product? I know our ’66 American used a Delco-Remy distributor.
