Brock Yates Tribute Fund Ariel Atom in One Lap of America

one lap ariel atom trailer The annual One Lap of America is currently underway. The idea of the week-long endurance event, for the two of you not familiar with it, is for a team to drive their street-legal performance cars to various facilities, such as drag strips, tracks, skip pads, and compete. The schedule is packed, therefore organization and reliability are at utmost importance. Weather, traffic, and fatigue play major roles too. Participants range from unknown guys like you and I to some of the best drivers in the world. This year, Jack Beachem and Charles Espenlaub are racing an Ariel Atom 3 in the One Lap of America. They are supporting the Brock Yates Tribute Fund which, through the Alzheimer’s Association, raises money and awareness of the fatal disease. See the details of their fund at act.alz.org and perhaps make a donation. The only problem with using the Ariel Atom 3 in One Lap of America is that is the fact that the Ariel Atom 3 does not have any trunk/cargo space, amongst other missing things such as a body, doors, roof. Each team needs to transport additional tires, tools, and personal stuff, so this is huge issue. That wasn’t a problem for them, however, as they attached a small trailer to their Atom. Such simple solution to such a complicated problem. Their car is fully street legal and features a windshield with a wiper, mirrors, lights, and fenders. I love the idea of the trailer behind the Ariel Atom. While small trailers are fairly commonly used by various track junkies, I have never before seen one attached to a specialty vehicle such as the Ariel Atom. Vehicles like that tend to be towed themselves. Check out more pics after the jump.
