‘25 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41 Special Edition – One Take Review

By Kamil Kaluski May 19, 2025

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler line, both conventional and 4xe models, continues mostly unchanged for 2025 model year. It received interior and grill updates for early 2024. There is a new trim, however, called the Willys ’41 Special Edition. It celebrates the 1941 Willys MB, and it is exclusive to the 4xe, but the color can be had on conventional Willys and Rubicon.

The Willys ’41 Special comes painted in military olive drab-inspired paint, ’41-painted 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 33-inch BFG KO2 (not KO3!) all-terrain tires, Army-inspired exterior decals, a unique tan interior. Hardware consists of a rear locking differential, and front and rear steel bumpers.

Appearance aside, this special edition will seem familiar to all the other Wranglers. Jeep and its parent company love their special edition models and often change or swap out colors. There is another special edition model for 2025 called the 4xe Backcountry. It is based on the Sahara 4xe and is focused more on comfort. The last piece of news for 2025 is that due to popular demand, the eight-speed automatic transmission can once again be paired with the Pentastar V6. The V6 was available only with the manual transmission last year.

  1. I like the wheels, but I’m not particularly moved by the paint color. The fad towards military colors on 4x4s is lost on me, especially considering the gloss finish.

I’m not a fan of EVs, but I think hybrids are a great idea. The price seems steep for this one, though. However, I want a manual transmission, and Jeep limits me to the V6, which I despise. I really wish the turbo 4 was available with a manual, in which case I might be interested.

    1. I agree on the color – just not my thing.
Yeah, the 4T was never available with the six-speed. That said… the 8A is an excellent transmission.

      1. Yes, it’s a good transmission for riding, but I don’t enjoy any automatic for driving. The 6-speed just seems like a natural fit with the turbo four.
