While in Monterey for car week, I attended the Concours D’LeMons. Yes, that’s a stretch MG, and it’s great. That car really set the tone for the event, and I couldn’t stop laughing about it. There was also a porn-sponsored race car, a Hella Shitty Bricklin (crowned later that day as Worst In Show), a bunch of home-brew monsters, LeMons Rally finishers, and Wayne Carini’s silly rusty Karmann Ghia. This event is always great, and I’m glad I went. Check out 90 photos after the jump.

Sorry I missed you at the show; I didn’t see anyone in a Hooniverse shirt. At least I got to meet jeepjeff on the rally. The International performed essentially flawlessly for the entire trip, requiring only one quart of oil and many, many gallons of gasoline. One of the washboarded side roads in Death Valley did a bit of a number on some of its bed stays, but that’s fixable. This is in Santa Cruz the evening before the Cd’L:

Behind the Courier, is that the 4WD dually LTD wagon that was for sale a while ago (and I thought featured here, but I can’t find it)?
-

That’s the one. The Courier, by the way, is Pete Peterson’s Sasquatch.

Sadly, there isn’t a single vehicle here that I wouldn’t attempt to daily, if presented the opportunity.

I fail to see any sadness in that position.
-
Now I am sad for you, too.

Even the yellow Cyclops II?

I spoke with the owner; he thinks he knows a way to plate it.

Especially that one. It’s like being given the chance to ride a unicorn pony.

Not going to lie, seeing my homebrew swamp cooler on Hooniverse gives me warm fuzzies inside. 🙂 Here is another of the impala and the comanche together.
-
That swamp cooler was honestly the coolest damn thing I saw all weekend. I laughed out loud. very creative!

Thanks! I wish I could say I spent a lot of time and effort making it but I honestly put it together in 45 minutes with a pocketknife in a back alley. It will be more impressive (and actually planned) next time around!

Does anyone know what the green vintage-looking car is that is in a few of the photos? It is running a straight six of some sort, perhaps a GMC?
