Early Broncos and K5s, man. Who do they think they are, commanding such crazy prices like that? Well, aside from great looking, highly functional, nicely proportioned 4x4s. This being Hooniverse, we’re ready with rationalizations an excuses galore whenever a cheap one pops up. Case in point: today we’re looking at a gnarly 1970 K5 Blazer with a 350, four speed and enough lift to clear 36″ Super Swampers. The nick-name comes from the custom plates.

An aside about Super Swamper tires: they’re actually the size they claim to be. Most inch-size tires come up well short of the claimed dimension, meaning a “35 inch” tire usually tapes out to a little over 33 inches once mounted up (all-male marketing departments, I guess?). Not so with Interco’s lineup: 36 inches means damn-near 36 inches.

That said, this thing is rough. Like, “what happened to it?” rough. The floorboards and rockers show rust that’s not shocking, but atypical for California, but that rust on the leading edge of the hood? How does that even happen? Meanwhile, the doors are on their fifth set of mirrors, judging from the number of holes. I see two gas fill caps, which seems great until you think about what plumbing atrocities a previous owner committed to get a second tank in place. Also: why a GMC steering wheel in a Chevy?

“Quit your whining, it’s a truck” (pronounced with an uuuuuhhhh), you say. And I’d agree, were it not for the price: $5k Buy It Now or Best Offer. A beater-grade fullsize 4×4 is not a $5k vehicle, more like between half and a quarter of that. But then again, this is a ruggedly handsome beater 4×4, with a pretty decent build sheet. Given the ubiquity of Chevy truck parts, you could source a hood, fenders, rockers and doors without issue, get the thing sprayed a Maaco and no one would question doubling the current price.
