Prodrive produces an amazing first-gen Subaru Impreza dubbed the P25

You know plenty about Subaru. You’re very aware of what Prodrive is and does. Now you know that Prodrive has just released images and specs for an in-house developed restomod based on the first-generation Subaru Impreza. The car is called the P25 and everything about it is extreme. And yes, that includes the price tag.

Prodrive starts with a GC-gen coupe. From there, the builder of all things awesome and rally-minded pushes the engine to deliver 400 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It helps that Prodrive utilizes the latest 2.5-liter flat-four boxer but then upgrades it from stock. The block will be familiar, but less so the fully fresh and beefier internals, Garret motorsport turbo, and a titanium and stainless race exhaust setup.

To back up the mill, Prodrive uses a six-speed sequential gearbox. Gear changes rip off in 80 milliseconds, and the P25 can blast from a stop with its WRC-style launch control system. It’s a “by-wire” setup that manages clutch action as the car pulls through first, second, and third on its own. Prodrive says that this system lets the car go from 0-62 miles per hour in less than 3.5 seconds.

Under the car is the expected all-wheel-drive setup and it can send power as needed via the adjustable active center differential. The suspension is further upgraded with aluminum bits and revised geometry. And the brakes are upsized to 15-inch front rotors with six-piston calipers.

It’s a rally-ready build that’s also prepped for street duty. The interior can fit four or the rear seat can be removed and a partial cage installed. Ahead of the driver is a data-logging dash display with the opportunity to adjust the throttle and performance maps. But if all of this sounds good to you, you better act now and you better have a ton of money on hand.

Prodrive is building just 25 examples of the P25. And each one runs about $560,000 before you add in the VAT.

At this price, isn’t this more of a trophy statement than a rally car you’d take to the office? There are options that are less cool, but probably just as cool to hoon:

    (Not rally-prepped though)

Ah, the lacking edit button. When my kid comes asking for something in the middle of a porcelaine throne post, and I don’t proofread before submitting…
