This one may well peg the WTF meter, but it’s got a personal connection in the _Science household. Sometime in the roaring ’90s Master_Science (I think that’s what you people call my dad) went to the video rental store (remember those?) with the goal of picking something completely random. He came home with Leningrad Cowboys Go America. Mission accomplished. Written, directed and staring a bunch of Finnish weirdos, it’s a cross between Borat and The Blues Brothers, but with subtitles and better hair. Also: a giant Cadillac with a coffin on the roof.
Since that 1989 “blockbuster”, the Leningrad Cowboys have gone on to produce a number of albums, music videos and other films, both short and long. But best of all, they ran a 1958 Corvette in last year’s La Carrera Panamericana!
To sum up, we’re talking about a Finnish blues/rock band racing a 1958 Corvette in a vintage road rally covering the length of Mexico. The whole thing was documented by the ever talented Dirk Behlau, aka Mr Pixeleye, a German Photographer/designer who’s work we think you’ll like. Check out the trailers below.

Here’s Pixeleye’s slideshow from the event and the Leningrad Cowboys Racing site is here.
Obviously, a visit to the Leningrad Cowboys website is in order.

That flat out ROCKED! You just know Frank Zappa has to be smiling down on that.
… thanks for picking up Mr. Pixeleye and the Cowboys! 🙂
We're having a hard time not re-running every post from your blog.
Today's 240fps drag stuff is awesome.
… oh – good to hear. Thanks for the compliment :). Go for, that’s what blogs are made for!
Cool stuff! Whose cover of 'Perfect Day' was used in the first video?
Edit: here's the video of the LGC doing it: http://www.mojvideo.com/video-leningrad-cowboys-p…
The guys who played the roles of the engine thieves in the movie worked, in real life, for Frank Johnson, who played the role of the car dealer who sold the LC's the second car after the first one got its engine stolen. He stole a car from me in real life.
Thanks for the posting 🙂
Love your work, man.
