In the alphabet soup that is today’s automotive naming milieu it’s easy to get confused. That’s the only explanation for this CRV dressed as an FJ that drove into the shop where Car Lounge member Phill0046 works.

Close enough.

The give away is the lack of lights on the side mirrors.. Amiright?
To properly ape the FJ, this CRV's owner would have to paint over the windows on the rear doors. Maybe raise the dash a foot or so too. This has just too much visibility.
Also, three windshield wipers.
Hmm … A CRV that is cheap enough, sturdy enough and reliable enough to be driven like an original FJ. Who's the imposter now?
I don’t have an issue with the rack. I don’t have a problem with the blue paint. I don’t mind the white roof, either. None of these things by themselves bother me, but taken together, it becomes evident that the intent is to mimic a different vehicle. If the FJ didn’t exist, this would be a pretty sweet CRV. (never thought I’d say that) Keep the rack, and spray the whole thing in olive drab or desert tan, and it would still be a poser, but in a way that would make it fun. It’s like the difference between painting a Chevelle like the General Lee (bad) and doing the same to a Geo Metro (funny).

It's not in drab, but it has a delightful air of incongruity to it….
It'll do.
