I like walking the yard. The junk yard that is. This past Saturday I indulged in that favorite pastime, and came across – as always – a number of odd sights and smells. One thing I noticed was that almost all the cars I happened to investigate had shoes in their trunks. Now, I don’t mean sneakers kept in the boot because this is earthquake country. No, I mean high heels, dress shoes, and the like. It was like it was the great Zappos graveyard.
Another thing I noticed was the above car. It stuck out for an obvious reason, and one that was not only somewhat paradoxical but also not unique as I saw another car with the same weird feature. Can you pick it out from the picture above?

monowiper?
Crystal aftermarket headlights?
Pusher fans are fairly uncommon.
Seems strange to see a radiator completely encased like that…
This one was easy to miss – the engine isn't present.
4-bar linkages for the hood hinges?
Hinges that allow the hood to go vertical?
So far, this is the best answer IMO.
You are right on it. It is not a hood it is the trunk lid lol that is why it goes vertical
Since I daily-drove a 745 and, later, an 855 for about two years, I was genuinely perplexed… ugly headlamp? Piece of cardboard? It's not the two horns, obviously… oh, that's right.
There's a wheel on the ground, and it's NOT a steelie?
shoulda grabbed that e34 weave….
also, single windshield wiper?
+1 on the wiper
Were both cars Mercedes 190s?
Passenger side light is a junky eBay crystal replacement while the driver side is a broken stock US headlight, why they weren't replaced a pair is beyond me.
What you said!
Especially being sealed beams on the driver's side by the looks of it.
Padiddle!
Range rover headlight!
I have no idea what that cast thing with hoses attached is on the driver's side fender.
Power steering pump?
Remote master cylinder?
ABS accumulator for the brakes?
Yes.
Why are there high heels in the trunk, and what did you do with the dead hooker?
Gas tank in the front?
Is anyone else watching F1 qualifying? I just saw an ad for an XJ with a turbocharged 4-cylinder. "Roar responsibly."
Diesel 190? Maybe that strange looking thing Mad_Science noticed is a diesel specific something, pump? Or is it old ABS thing?
Here's video of NY reg. diesel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztrlvBRsD4g
Right answer is different headlights, probably.
Bumper…rubber
Everything else is taken… dual horns?
This is a C class Mercedes fitted with Volvo headlights.
I think you're right. My first thought here was 'old Volvo' but them looked at the side marker opening and realized it's an old Benz (mid 80s 190?). The mono wiper, which I didn't notice at first, is another dead giveaway.
I'm no Benz expert, but I recall that early 190s in the US had sealed beams, later ones still only had one bulb, I believe.

Can You find an photo of this headlight attached to a Volvo, looks like aftermarket product to me…
I think the ps light isn't installed, someone just stuck in there at the yard, especially since the ds light is factory
but yeah, you are definitely right..
i looked at this pic for like 60 seconds thinking "190e with volvo light" and for some reason, that didn't register as a problem
The "hood" is actually the trunk lid.
Could it be that the grille is attached to the hood?
Looks like an aftermarket headlight on the passenger side and the factory sealed beam/fog light combo on the driver's side.
