What is that saying? “When Life gives you lemons…”

Whoever that is is my new favorite person.
Indeed. Now I know what joy looks like.
Headed east on 40 to take the kid to visit his granddad for Christmas, we saw a guy in a Cobra.
Top down.
In the rain.
38 degrees.
Must be this guy's brother.
Since its last call, here's the only BMW at the Twin Cities Auto Show that I thought was worth taking a picture of. And I wandered through their new-car booth at least twice.

According to the sign and the poster in the background, this is on behalf of the upcoming 10,000 Lakes Concours d'Elegance sponsored by BMW of Minnetonka, yet they don't know the difference between a BMW Isetta and a BMW 600. This does not bode well for them.
In winter 1971 a friend asked if I wanted to go up to Wisconsin with him to watch ice racing. He had a mid 60s Alfa, and, on his very first run, actually cut the 2nd fastest time of the day (and his first time ice racing). Of course he got cocky about it, and spent the rest of the day bouncing off the snow berms and spinning for what seemed like miles across the lake. There were a lot of interesting cars, but the one I really remember was a big block Cobra, looked pretty beat, driven by a college sophomore from Madison. It didn't do well, it too spent a lot of time spinning across the lake. I can only imagine what the reaction would be to that car being ice raced today. I thought it was a pretty neat car to be racing in tho, even back then. It certainly got used the way they were meant to be. I wonder what the owner would have thought if someone had told him that it would someday be worth enough to pay his college tuition? Talking to him, he'd picked it up cheap from a graduating student, and was pretty happy with it, but didn't really think he was going to keep it, as it was just too impractical as a daily driver for a college student.

Since this is Last Call..on my way to where I spend this weekend, I took this out-of-the-window travel shoot of the world's most powerful truck – at least in 2010. A Scania V8 with 730hp, driven by a proud owner, judging by the inscription.
