I thought this was sound advice.

Last Call: Shiny (Sort-Of) Side Up Edition

I once scavenged a nice DO NOT BREAK DOWN sticker off of a carton. It lived on the back window of my TR7 after that.
-
that’s awesome, how long did it last?
-
The sticker, or the car? (I amuse myself)
I personally put at least 35K on my TR7 before I sold it with some 80K miles on it to purchase an MGB (big mistake, but I wanted a convertible). For a car with such a lousy reputation, mine was reliable, fairly easy to repair and never left me stranded, so the sticker must have worked!

One of my VW buses sported this on the sliding door window:

mid-60s Suburban? Sweet!

Meh. I stuck on a diamond warning in the back window of my my van that said “Happiness is seeing your bosse’ face on the side of a milk carton”. Yeah, that was too many words. Even though he was a truly great guy.
-
Sigh, my 2014 BMW should have this on the hood. It doesn’t even have a dipstick, let alone plug wires. Oh, and the battery is in the trunk, but even that isn’t accessible except by the dealer.

I know it comes up occasionally whether certain trends are good or terrible or even the one thing that is representative of everything truly wrong with car culture and kids today. And usually, I have a “let folks do what they love” sort of attitude, that if someone is willing to invest time and work into a machine to make it their own, then it has value. Bro trucks, ricers, low riders, donks, whatever you call those “stanced” things with the overstretched tires, etc–maybe not my thing, but okay.
“Shorty” cars? I. Do. Not. Understand.

In case you want a muscle car but only have a model A sized garage?

Today, I received my package from CK Models. A man sized package (+/- a man) full of 1:43 delight! Going to examine them in detail now. Packaging was over the top, but there were still two casualties.

not sure why i am not into 1:43, been building 1:24/1:25 for so long now and 43rd would take up less space. can you name everything (or anything) is the pic? the tanks are 1:35, the planes are various, from 1:48 to 1:144

As a teenager, 1:18 and 1:87 were my scales to collect. Lots of trucks and a scale train kept me busy for years. But I moved from one country to another aged 19, having basically just one huge backpack and my bike with me. So a lot of this stuff was sold and given away. Not sure if I can make a good case for 1:43, but it’s cheaper, takes less space, and it actually is a nice size in hand if you’ll allow your kids to play with it… 🙂 Also, I am a long time Volvo-nut and I appreciate the Soviet cars of my youth, and particularly they are hard to come by (I’ve only recently found some of the cars I longed after for a reasonable price).
Here’s the complete list, better photos will be made later. A part of this investment will be recouped by reselling, as I have ordered several copies of models I believe to be resellable in my local market. The 1800ES and 264 TE are my favourite Volvos.

I would love to find a Lada (2105?) in 1:24 scale to sit next to my BRG Mini with the Union Jack on the roof, and my Rally inspired Datsun 510. It is safe to say that i do not have any Eastern European or Russian cars in my collection, but now i want some! Thanks for the list.

It would definitely fit since you seem to have “one of everything”… 🙂 The store is to be found here, most of what I wanted was on amazing deals – 2.95-6.95€:

oh thats not the whole collection, i have a rack of Camaros in all generations as well as a rack of Skylines, in many of generations, i have a few DTM racers too. the military stuff comes from being in a model club with a challenge build every 2 months or so, to get builders out of their comfort zones and try new things. i have learned a lot from that, like how weather an airplane well. currently on the bench are the B-52 bomber, which you can see mocked up in one of those images, and a porshce 959 in silver.
