Last Call: Pole Cat Edition

pole cat
Continuing yesterday’s trend of vintage photos of people on few wheels reaching great heights, here we have an early motorcyclist doing his version of a pole dance. While getting up there must have been quite the feat, I’m guessing getting down must have been even trickier.
Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.

  1. This picture reminds of how just recently, I had to educate some of my classmates on who Evel Knievel was.

Somedays I just feel so damn old, which is odd, considering I’m 16.

        1. I never noticed how much it looked like a tractor. It’s all I can see now, thanks.
Also, American kids have had a lot of exposure to the John Deere company’s incessant running of the Grass Green and Sunshine Yellow flag up every marketable pole on the North American continent.
Aston Martins, you should explain, are more closely related to tractors. As are Lamborghinis, but at that point you’ve probably lost them so just start singing “Green and Yeller”.

          1. Arguably Case-New Holland and Fiat Chrysler would be the closest today. Look at the chairman of CNH Industrial, and the CEO of Fiat Chrysler.

Also, GM had Samson tractors for a time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Tractor

            And Ford had Fordson: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordson_tractor

International made trucks and tractors: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Harvester

Oh, and Case made cars for a time:

            There’s probably a lot more that I’m forgetting…

  2. Hey guys and girls, i picked up this sweet camping stove at a garage sale. Only thing is it’s missing a hose to connect the propane tank. I tried a BBQ Store but they said they don’t carry these at all, it’s a special thread and nobody makes them any more. It can’t be that difficult to source one, can it?

      1. Primus definitely exists, but a quick google revealed nothing here. Aren’t there standard issue hoses for this stuff?

        1. Standards for some things have changed over the years. Is this a propane stove or a gas fuel type? Also European standards might be different than US. Have you checked Amazon?

  3. Well, my dad finally got his “golf cart” for their lake place. A 1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ, 4 cylinder, manual transmission. At $1350 it was the cheapest Wrangler that I have ever seen. It actually runs and drives, even has a new top and newer 18″ Jeep wheels (which have to go). It has a few issues: needs a front drive shaft, needs tires, needs a muffler (optional), needs a back seat, needs at least one rear brake cylinder, it has been rattle canned flat black (poorly, the paint came off on my hands when I closed the hood), and 5th gear doesn’t work (possibly just a broken c-clip, but he doesn’t need it anyways). With just a little bit of work it will suit his needs perfectly and make a great little project for us. Even with repairs and upgrades, it will be cheaper than a gas powered 4 seater golf cart and much cheaper than a Gator/Mule/UTV.
